There's not that much improvement between the QX9650 and the QX6850 - a couple of frames at minimum or average at best in both resolutions, and the game seems to be more dependent on MHz than extra cores. Extra cores do help the minimum framerate which happens when more "stuff" is going on in the scene, requiring more physics calculations from the CPU. However doubling the core quantity only offers an extra 3fps here. Naturally the QX9650 comes out tops in both scenarios and by quite a way at lower resolutions - out from "just playable" 30-40fps into comfortable 50.

Average Frames Per Second - higher is better

Again the Core 2 processors outperform the AMD CPUs in all accounts and the QX9650 leads the pack in both high and low resolutions. Yet again though, the QX9650 is only a fraction faster than the QX6850 in both tests - not at a noticeable value. There's a more consistent elevation of performance between core frequency and the number of cores; however, this time it looks like front side bus is particularly beneficial to the game - with all 1,333MHz FSB Intel processors performing better than the 1,066MHz FSB chips.
